John Mulaney Brooklyn Concert reviews
Waters was waaaayyy too political.
The first half of the show was amazing, I mean, who has an intermission in a rock show? Right when things started to heat up, I was just mind blown at the experience. And then he started to get all "activism-y". Things cooled down. The video art behind him was creative and beautiful most of the show. Until a certain point, when it switched to being highly political. Trump as a baby, Trump nazi saluting, Trump with Putin, Trump Trump Trump. To be clear, I disapprove of our idiot of a president as much as the next Portlander, but ffs I go to concerts to forget about that buffoon. Yeah, we get it Waters, we get it, we're with you, sort of, but can't we just enjoy the damn music without you throwing messages in our face? Let people take their own meanings! What ever happened to subtlety? Also, drone strike videos, kids throwing rocks at tanks, all this "triggering" footage. woooww.. very clever, getting people excited by being ultra sensational footage and pretending to be, what? punk? pff. There is such a thing as too much.
The Kenny Banya to Barret's Jerry. I left that show feeling violated, like I just attended a clockwork-orange-esque brainwash session. Waters felt hack. "I love stuff you don't have to think about."
The lasers, lights, and flying stuff was cool though.
